Department of Evening Studies, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla-171001, was established in July 1962 as Panjab University Evening College, on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission, to provide the facility of continuing education to those who cannot study in day colleges, especially the less privileged persons and those who take employment after schooling.
