The Himachal Pradesh University Regional Centre was started at Dharamshala in July 1992 with a purpose to extend higher education to students belonging to remote and far flung areas of the region. The districts like Kangra, Hamirpur, Mandi, Una, Chamba, Lahaul & Spiti etc. and neighboring states of Punjab and J & K reap benefits of higher education from this centre.
